Instructional Rounds ~School Visit~ Administrator Workshop

Join us Tuesday, April 24th at 5:30 PM for a 1-hour preparation/training session and dinner at Boondock’s Restaurant in Fort Fairfield.  Then join us at a local school (TBD) on Wednesday, April 25th at 8:00 AM to participate in the process.  We will conclude the day with lunch (provided) and a wrap up session to reflect on all of our collaborative learning.

The main focus of this session will be on the process of Instructional Rounds.  Participants may want to obtain the book: City, E. A., Emore, R. F., Fiarman, S. E., & Teitel, L. (2009). Instructional rounds in education: A network approach to improving teaching and learning.  Cambridge, MA: Harvard Education Press.  It may be purchased online at various locations such as https://www.amazon.com/Instructional-Rounds-Education-Approach-Improving/dp/1934742163.

 

The instructional rounds process is an explicit practice that is designed to bring discussions of instruction directly into the process of school improvement.  [Instructional Rounds is] set of protocols and processes for observing, analyzing, discussing, and understanding instruction that can be used to improve student learning at scale. *(p. 3)

April 25: (8:00 AM-2:30 PM at local school (TBD)
